David Goggins’s birthday is February 17, 1975, making him 47 in writing. His hometown and birthplace are Buffalo, New York, United States. David grew up in a Christian family. His father’s name is Trunnis Goggins, and his mother is Jackie Goggins. David also has a brother named Trunnis Jr.
When David was six, his family shifted to Williamsville, where his father owned an ice skating rink. Trunnis was an abusive father and husband. Due to his illness, he was put off from the training and was given a choice to restart his training after gaining health, but he refused.
Davis opted for TACP training and worked in the Air Force Tactical Air Control Party for five years before resigning from the Air Force in 1999.
After quitting Air Force, he took two years of break, working in Pest control. One day, he saw the advertisement for SEAL Training, the U.S.’s most arduous training. David decided to partake in it and not live as nobody anymore; instead, he would strive hard to self-made his name.
First, he completed BUD/S training in 2001, then signed up for SEAL Qualification Training. Before this training, he lost almost 100 pounds in three months with a strict diet and workout, as he was overweight. SEAL’s training was for one year. He endured all hardships, and his hard work succeeded, as he earned NEC 5326 as a Combatant Swimmer (SEAL) in six months.
After receiving SEAL, he was allotted “SEAL Team 5.” David worked in the military for twenty years. During these twenty years, he mainly served in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2004, David passed Army Ranger School and received the “Top Enlisted Award” for his hard work and efficiency. David served in the Navy till 2015 for fifteen years.
Ultra Marathon & Ultra-distance Cycling Career
David always had a sportsman spirit. He tried to join the Bad Water ultra-marathon but couldn’t as it was an invitational event. Therefore, first, he participated in the San Diego 24-hour ultra-marathon and finished it in 19 hours and six minutes. Then, he took part in the Las Vegan Marathon and then the Boston Marathon. David finished both marathons on time and qualified for the Bad Water ultra-marathon.
In 2006, he was invited to the Bad Water ultra-marathon. He finished it on time and came in the fifth position. The same year, he competed in the ultra-man World Championships Triathlon in Hawaii, a three-day 32-mile triathlon, and succeeded in grabbing second place in it.
In 2007, he again participated in the Bad Water marathon, finishing number three. In 2008, he again competed in the Bad Water marathon but couldn’t finish the race this time. The same year, he earned the title “Hero of Running” by Runner’s World.
In 2009, he partook in the Furnace Creek-508, an ultra-distance invitational Cycling Race. In 2013 and 2014, he again participated in the Bad Water ultra-marathon but failed to finish it both times. David, during this time, competed in 14 ultra-endurance races and finished nine in the top five.
In 2016, he won Infinitus 88k, Music City Ultra 50k, and Strolling Jim 40 Miler. In 2020, he competed in the Moab 240 ultra-marathon, in which he came in the second position. David finished this race in 63 hours and 21 minutes.
